Vetri a Forma di Vasi (2006)

Michele De Lucchi,

It is not at all obvious that in a glass vase it is the void that makes the form and it is the colour that makes the transparency. I drew them with a very fine nib, recovering some pens I used in my days at the school of architecture in Florence and constructing the design with countless strokes, obtaining the effects of opacity and reflections with extreme, deliberate and enjoyable patience. This satisfaction is probably visible in the insistent repetition of motifs that are generated one after the other making the effect gradually more complete. In the end, I am satisfied with these vases, so simple and rich only in their shape and rare colour that few in Murano still know how to make. Constructively, I made twelve wooden moulds and composed only ten final models for the moment: but many combinations are still open and the exploration of possibilities still makes me curious.
