Le Marionette (1994)

Michele De Lucchi,

"These lamps of mine in 2001 are made with ordinary bulbs, and their form is created to paly with their shapes. They reflect a contemporary essentiality reminiscent of minimalism in art and architecture. The idea for these lamps was born in 1994 during a workshop at Artemide, following which the Lighting Field prototypes were produced by Artemide. The series, produced in 2001 by Produzione Privata, in a collector's edition, is limited to 10 pieces per type, signed and numbered. The names of the Le Marionette lamps are: Puppet, Tangle, Tired, Face." — Michele De Lucchi, 1994 This edition is part of the Ready Made workshop inspired by the Ready Made concept in the art of Marcel Duchamp and Dadaism. It is a concept whereby existing parts are assembled and transferred into design, where it acquires a fresh meaning by focusing on a particular system of very common industrial production.
